Every fall the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) awards approximately fifteen, one-semester dissertation fellowships to deserving graduate students whose projects are judged by the selection committee to be highly meritorious. Successful applicants receive a stipend and paid tuition during the following spring or summer semester.

Student must be enrolled in a major or minor graduate degree program in Classics at the time of the nomination and must demonstrate the superior writing skills, curiosity, scholarship and deep interest in Rome legacy exemplified by the late author, Joseph Jay Deiss.
